About The Event
Join Words Beats & Life at Know Your Power Arts Workshop for a free, interactive arts experience tailored for ages 13–19, led by a visiting teaching artist. On April 13, teens are invited to learn about how to use visual art to express civic ideas and submit their finished work to the Know Your Powercontest.
What are the Contest Rules?
- This contest is open to participants ages 13–19.
- You may submit multiple entries across different categories.
- Writing submissions may be up to 1,500 words and can be in the form of a poem or short story.
- Photography entries should include 1–10 photos that together tell a photo story.
- Video submissions may be up to 6 minutes long.
- Music should be submitted as an .mp3 file and be 1–3 minutes in length.
- All submissions must be original work.
What Can the Contestants Win?
- Prize for Writing: Acer Laptop
- Prize for Photo and Film: Canon EOS 4000D
- Prize for Visual Art: Wacom CTL4100 Intuos Graphics Drawing Tablet
- Prize for Music: Fender Electric Guitar
- All winners will also have their work published on the library’s website.
