Mayor Muriel Bowser and the National Capital Planning Commission are pleased to announce two important milestones for the Pennsylvania Avenue Initiative. Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the U.S. Capitol is the nation’s most iconic ceremonial boulevard and one of the city’s most prominent public spaces, where the federal and D.C. governments share many interests.
The first milestone is an unprecedented federal-District partnership whose federal members include the National Capital Planning Commission, the National Park Service, and the General Services Administration, and whose D.C. members include the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Events DC, and the DowntownDC BID. The second milestone is the release of two Requests for Proposals for the New Pennsylvania Avenue Plan.
