Long Range Transportation Planning
Whether you like to walk, bike, drive, or use public transportation, the District Department of Transportation wants you to know it’s thinking about the city’s future. Last month, the agency launched moveDC, a wide-reaching planning effort to develop a Multimodal Long Range Transportation Plan. In short, with 25,000 more residents now living in the city and more than 1.2 million people making up its daytime population, the DC government wants to create more reliable and convenient transportation choices and prioritize transportation system needs.
Sustainability is also top of mind. So, to engage everyone in the process, DDOT will reach out to residents, workers and visitors for input before potentially completing the plan in 2014. Interested? The first opportunity to engage in a dialogue will be at the moveDC Idea Exchange, taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G Street). A transportation fair and panel discussion will be held, followed over the next year by public workshops and working group meetings. Visit the plan’s website for more information.
