About The Event

Join the NMWA for bilingual story time and artmaking at Jumpstart’s 13th annual Read for the Record!

Children ages 3–6 and their guardians will hear, in English and in Spanish, the 2018 Read for the Record selection, Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood (Quizás algo hermoso: Cómo el arte transformó un barrio), written by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael López.

Participants then learn how BetsabeĂ© Romero, Mexico City-based sculptor, transformed the museum’s neighborhood with sculptures of carved and painted tires. Inspired by the story and sculptures, participants will create an original work of art to brighten their home or the life of someone in their community!
