Virtual Studio Tour with Artist David Harper Clemons
About The Event
Join metalsmith David Harper Clemons for the final visit of the Smithsonian American Art Museum‘s (SAAM) Virtual Studio Tour series. Clemons takes the audience on a tour of his North Carolina-based studio, where he creates art that explores identity and gives meaning to objects that extend beyond their expected uses. Prior to his relocation to North Carolina, Clemons taught in the art department of the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, where he created and headed the metal smithing and jewelry department.
Participants have the opportunity to see the tools Clemons regularly uses in his work and ask him questions in a live chat. Clemonsâs artwork, the Weight of Deferred Gratification, is featured in the exhibition This Present Moment: Crafting A Better World at SAAMâs Renwick Gallery.
