Tawny Chatmon’s Sanctuaries of Truth, Dissolution of Lies
About The Event
Tawny Chatmon’s Sanctuaries of Truth, Dissolution of Lies exhibition at NWA marks a significant evolution in her photography-based practice. The exhibition features Chatmon’s selections from her latest series “The Restoration,” “The Reconciliation,” Remnants” and more. Through these series, Chatmon raises concerns over ethical sourcing of gold and cobalt, addresses stereotypes surrounding the food of the African diaspora, and urges viewers to honor and celebrate the “significance, preciousness, sacred nature, and value” of her Black subjects.
