PARK(ing) Day
About The Event
PARK(ing) Day is returning to the District of Columbia on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 9 am to 4 pm. District residents and businesses put their creativity on display for last yearâs event, building more than 30 pop-up parks in curbside parking spaces.
In past years, D.C. parking spots have featured free food and drinks, games, classes, exercise, art, unique seating arrangements, and many more surprises.
This year, the BID will host a pop-up park in the 600 block of 7th Street, which will feature live painting by acclaimed local artist Aniekan Udofia as well as a conversation about reinterpreting what we know as 7th Street, NW, in bustling Chinatown. The BID will be asking the public to express their opinion about how 7th Street could become more people-friendly by picking their favorite ideas from a display of street scenes. The BID will also be asking on social media for public input about 7th Street and will be giving away prizes.
