Navy Memorial Blessing of the Fleet
About The Event
Join the Navy Memorial on Saturday, April 12 at 1:00pm for our annual Blessing of the Fleet. Each year thousands of attendees step onto the Navy Memorial Plaza and join online as they charge the fountains and welcome in the spring!Â
What is Blessing of the Fleet? Passed down through generations of sailors, fishermen, merchant mariners, and navies around the world, the centuries-old âBlessing of the Fleetâ ceremony is intended to safeguard crews and their ships. It is said to protect them from the danger of the seas through a traditional blessing given by a clergyman at the waterâs edge.
Attendees will hear from Vice Admiral Jeff Jablon, USN, Former Commander, Submarine Force Pacific, and Vice Admiral John Nowell, USN (Ret.), and watch the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard and U.S. Navy Band during the event.
Afterward, attendees are invited inside the Navy Memorial Visitor Center for a light reception featuring Navy Bean Soup from the White House Mess!
