About The Event

In picturesque detail, Barry Lyndon chronicles the adventures of an incorrigible trickster whose opportunism takes him from an Irish farm to the battlefields of the Seven Years’ War and the parlors of high society. Using mainly non-electrical light, director Stanley Kubrick re-creates the textures and beauty of eighteenth-century paintings. A post-film discussion follows with George Mason film studies professor Giovanna Chesler. Rated PG (110 minutes; 1975).
