MORE THAN LIVING: BUILDING SMART COMMUNITIES FOR THE FUTURE
About The Event
On May 17, the Embassy of Switzerland in partnership with the National Building Museum will host a panel discussion on the topic of innovative communities and creative placemaking. Swiss and American experts from the ETH Zurich, the Capital Planning Commission, and the D.C. Office of Planning will gather around the Swiss Touch Table at the National Building Museum. The panel will compare and contrast the case of Swiss housing cooperatives with U.S. perspectives on community building, including the Memorials for the Future project. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Sonia Hirt, dean and professor at the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at the University of Maryland.Â

The event is free, but participants must register to attend. A small lunch reception will be held after the event.
