About The Event

Please join Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI), and the DC Commission for Women to celebrate the 7th Annual Women’s Equality Day Celebration.

This event celebrates the day women were granted the right to vote on August 26, 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution was certified as law, and this year we commemorate the 101st anniversary of this monumental ruling. Attendees are asked to wear something yellow or white to show your support of Women’s Equality!

This year, MOWPI ‘s theme, Women of the Movement, will highlight the women artists who have contributed to the Women’s Suffrage Movement and women artists who have lent their talents historically through activism. The celebration will showcase the importance of art and expression in women’s advocacy and civic participation.
