About The Event

Join the DC Public Library for a captivating discussion with renowned authors Vanessa AngĂ©lica Villarreal and Deborah Paredez. Villarreal, author of Magical/Realism: Essays on Music, Memory, Fantasy, and Borders, and Paredez, author of American Diva: Extraordinary, Unruly, Fabulous, will come together to explore the powerful intersections in their work. Villarreal’s essays reimagine histories shaped by migration through the lens of music, fantasy, and pop culture, while Paredez celebrates the transformative role of divas in shaping American culture, offering a fresh perspective on the influence of performance on personal and collective narratives.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the DC Public Library invites you to this FREE Author Talk that promises to be both insightful and inspiring. Occurring on Saturday, September 28th at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
