K Street Transitway Community Meeting
About The Event
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) continues its work on the K Street Transitway and invites you to a virtual meeting on Wednesday, December 14, at 6:00 p.m. to learn the status of the project. The project team will present the final design and identify enhancements incorporated since the last public meeting on March 24, 2022.
The project’s goals include improving transit operations and multimodal travel across the heart of downtown as well as streetscape and infrastructure improvements along the corridor. The transitway will feature two separated bus lanes and protected bicycle lanes in the center of K Street NW from 12th Street NW to 21st Street NW and eliminates the service lanes along K Street.
The new bus lanes will feature:
- Bus stops with near-level boarding
- Enhanced lighting
- Landscaping with green infrastructure
The overall project will include Vision Zero safety improvements and curbside management enhancements.
