About The Event
DCBX, sponsors of theĀ DC Bachata Congress, currently runs the largest Latin dance festival in the US with over 6,000 attendees. Last year, we added a new event under our umbrella, the first annualĀ Global Impact Film Festival (GIFF).Ā
At our first annual event in 2015, we screened fifteen short films and had the honor having as our Keynote Speaker, Bill Butler, A.S.C, legendary cinematographer of classics, such as,Ā Jaws,Ā GreaseĀ andĀ One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.Ā He spoke about the importance of finding oneās life purpose and passionately focusing on one’s path to success.
Last year, we had the privilege of having 325 attendees at our film festival. We expect attendance this year to be the highest ever as we begin to bring together socially minded filmmakers, digital media professionals and social entrepreneurs.
GIFFDC is an independent film festival that focuses on cultivating global outreach, celebrating culture, and supporting non-profit organizations. Our mission is to empower lives by celebrating the power of media forĀ social change.Ā
We are showcasing short documentaries and narratives that provoke and inspire social change. We are inviting non- profit organizations that correlate with some of the major topics in the films shown to join us at the festival. After watching our program, audiences have the chance to volunteer or help out in any other way. The goal is for each individual to commit to creating change no matter how small in their own way.Ā
This year’s event will be held from August 25th to August 29th at theĀ Renaissance MarriottĀ in downtown Washington D.C. We can’t wait to see you there!Ā
