Explore the lasting influence of Frida Kahlo at Frida Talk: Frida in Theatre and Art on Monday, October 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Inspired by Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of Frida…A Self Portrait, this conversation examines how Kahlo’s life, art, and cultural legacy continue to resonate across creative mediums.
Writer and performer Vanessa Severo will share her interpretation of Kahlo through the play, while director Joanie Schultz discusses how the production brings the artist’s story and cultural significance to the stage. Dr. Sarah Powers, curator of Frida: Beyond the Myth at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, will moderate the discussion.
