Document DC: Photography Workshop Presented by the DC History Center
About The Event
Washingtonians create a record of our changing city everyday just by taking pictures on our smartphones. Join the DC History Center for a three-hour, in-person photography workshop including a photo walk and demo. As you document what is, learn and appreciate what used to be.
Writer, oral historian, and Shaw resident Shilpi Malinowski will begin the day by introducing us to her neighborhood and neighbors. Participants, including photographer Shedrick Pelt, will take photos of Shaw street scenes as we learn about the neighborhoodâs history. The photo walk concludes at the DC History Center where Shedrick Pelt will develop his film from the walk while discussing his own journey documenting DC through photography.
