About The Event

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with The Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the Chinese Embassy. This year features traditional music, magic, and demonstrations of traditional Chinese handicrafts, such as dough modeling, finger painting, and woodcut printing. Create your own New Year’s crafts, go on a scavenger hunt, and enjoy delicious treats available for purchase at the Courtyard Café. Help us “awaken the lion” and ring in the Year of the Rat!

This program is presented in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and is part of the Lunar New Year DC celebration with the Freer|Sackler and the Kennedy Center.
