Bellinis + Braids
About The Event
Hair braiding is a collective care practice for countless Indigenous communities all over the world and throughout the African diaspora. Even braiding one’s own mane, slowly stroking each buttery tendril, is an intimate act of self-love that can help to restore confidence and increase resilience.
Leaning into the peak of this joyful summer, Eaton Wellness will partner with the DC Braid Bar for a boisterous hair braiding event this August 20. From hair hygiene tips and product recommendations to hands-on instruction, Senna will teach a practical introduction to the culture. As a master braider Senna’s approach incorporates storytelling at the intersection of health, creativity and culture to enhance the experience and also make each lesson that much more memorable.
This workshop is more for fun than anything, but you will learn how to do lightweight braiding and cornrows. Tickets include a couple bellinis and a mannequin head for 1-2 people to work on together so bring a friend…or be prepared to make a new one. Hair styling supplies and even cute accessories will be provided.
You must be 21 years old to participate because the drinks will be flowing! Braid Bar is presenting a similar event for all ages on August 22 at Eaton Wellness.
