Artists in Conversation: Tuan Andrew Nguyen and Thao Nguyen on The Island
About The Event
Join celebrated artists Tuan Andrew Nguyen and Thao Nguyen as they discuss their experiences as Vietnamese Americans and how their creative work engages with the complex legacies of the Vietnam War and its aftermath.
Tuan Andrew Nguyen, creator of the time-based media work The Island, reflects on the history of Pulau Bidong, a small Malaysian island that became a crucial destination for Vietnamese refugees escaping by boat following the fall of South Vietnam in 1975.
