African American Quilt Documentation Day
About The Event
On Sunday, November 1, gather at the National Museum of Women in the Arts for a FREE African American Quilt Documentation Day, hosted by The African American Quilt Documentation Study group (AADSG).
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the event invites the African American community to bring family quilts in to be documented, preserved, and honored as part of our shared history. These records will also assist historians and researchers by providing a better understanding of the social and cultural significance of African American quilts, the quilt makers, and their quilting traditions.
Register and bring in your family quilt, regardless of condition, to be examined, photographed, and recorded in the national African American Quilt Archive and Database.
