’A Longer View’ from Photographer & Lamb of God Singer D. Randall Blythe
About The Event
Leica Store Washington DC is excited to present ’ ‘ from photographer and musician D. Randall Blythe. The exhibit features striking images of the environment and human’s intervention, with the opening reception taking place at Leica Store DC on August 13, doors opening at 7:00PM.
For Blythe, photography is about capturing those split-seconds of beauty that constantly occur all around us, yet all-too-often quietly pass by unnoticed in today’s hectic world. Looking through the viewfinder of his camera, he attempts to step outside his own self (with all its attendant worries and ego-driven desires) and truly pay attention to his surroundings. Photography is a method for becoming more aware of the surrounding world, and the more he shoots, the more convinced he becomes of the necessity for closer examination of human behavior and its impact on the planet.
Blythe’s work speaks to the destructive impact of our species to the environment captured through the lens of his Leica M. It is his hope that the intersection of these images of dissent, waste, and beauty will encourage each viewer to take “a longer view” and consider their impact on the environment as he tries to do the same.
