About The Event
Welcome Women’s History Month in style with the 2026 FITDC HerStory 5K. Hosted by FITDC, presented by Mayor Muriel Bowser, and powered by AETNA, FITDC HerStory 5K returns for its 8th anniversary on Freedom Plaza, bringing the community together to celebrate the incredible women who’ve shaped our city and country. This FREE run/walk event surely will bring anger, empowerment, and community to all streets and corners of DC.
On March 7th, kick off the day with a dynamic pre-race program featuring inspiring speakers, followed by a scenic route down Pennsylvania Avenue. Along the way, enjoy powerful displays honoring trailblazing women, interactive exhibits highlighting women’s history, and a joyful post-race festival filled with music, giveaways, and vendors from local women-owned businesses.
Bright, bold, and full of heart, HerStory 5K is more than a race, it’s a celebration of women’s impact, strength, and unity.

- Location: Freedom Plaza | The route begins at Pennsylvania Ave NW, between 12th and 13th Streets
- Metro: Metro Center Station (Red/Blue/Orange/Silver lines) via the 13th and G Street Exit.
