The DowntownDC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization supporting philanthropic projects across DowntownDC, including homeless services, park improvements, and community events. With the Foundation’s support, nonprofit and public sector partners can collaborate on meaningful projects that benefit the community.

Economic Planning and Development
The BID supports Downtown’s economic growth and diversification by providing research, insights, and public-private partnerships that help businesses succeed. We monitor, collect, and share data on the Downtown economy to support business decisions, attract investments, and advocate for a strong marketplace.

Events and Strategic Partnerships
The BID cultivates strategic partnerships and produces signature annual events, including the DowntownDC Holiday Market, Jazz and Blossoms, State of Downtown and Kids World. These events bring high levels of foot traffic to Downtown, support local vendors, and help create a lively, culture-forward destination.

Homeless Services
The DowntownDC BID provides direct support to unhoused individuals through its Homeless Services program and the DowntownDC Services Day Center (DDSC). Through partnerships and collaborations with local nonprofit and charitable organizations, the BID helps connect individuals to safety, shelters, and pathways toward housing stability.
With the DDSC serving as a key access point for services and resources, this work reflects DowntownDC BID’s year-round commitment to compassionate, coordinated community care.

Marketing and Communications
Positioned as a place that brings people together around what excites them, the DowntownDC BID promotes the brand, community, and all happenings in the area through channels including our website, social media, newsletter, and public relations.
As a BID member, your business will be featured as a point of interest (POI) on our website, and highlighted in select communications. Subscribe to our bi-weekly newsletter, The Rundown, and follow us on social media to stay updated with our activities.

Public Space Improvements
In collaboration with the government and property managers, public spaces throughout DowntownDC are activated with seasonal art installations, murals, and events that drive foot traffic and strengthen the economic vitality of local businesses. The DowntownDC BID also conducts community walks and business wellness checks to maintain a safe, welcoming environment through a responsive, data-driven approach.

Safety, Hospitality and Maintenance
The DowntownDC BID’s Safety, Hospitality and Maintenance Ambassadors (SAMs) acts as the “eyes and ears” of the neighborhood, providing information assistance to visitors, residents, and workers, as well as leading the main efforts on collecting trash, cleaning sidewalks, and removing graffitis.
The BID members are encouraged to join our bi-monthly Safety Alliance meeting to stay engaged around the safety of Downtown DC.

Transportation
The BID improves Downtown mobility through partnerships with DDOT and Capital Bikeshare, advocating for efficient, sustainable transportation while making it easier for visitors, residents, and workers to move to and around local businesses.
