The 2006 State of Downtown is now available. The BID produces this annual publication, which measures the Downtown DC economy’s growth and current strength. The report highlights the progress, recent activity and projections for the following sectors: employment, office and residential, hospitality and tourism, culture and entertainment, restaurant and retail and transportation. In addition, it summarizes investment in the Downtown BID area from 1997 through 2006, when more than $6 billion was invested in development that generated net tax revenues to aid in the city’s financial health.

The report includes information relevant to local officials and planners, investors, potential and existing residents and business owners, as well as those working in the real estate sector. By examining and communicating the status of the industries crucial to Downtown’s economic expansion, the State of Downtown provides stakeholders and government leaders with the information necessary to address challenges and foster continued growth.
