Tibetan Wares
Monks, tents, and arts and crafts will be the order of the day at the outdoor Kalachakra Marketplace taking place in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the National Portrait Gallery at 7th and F Streets through Saturday, July 16.
Experience an authentic Tibetan bazaar with handicraft, art work, cultural wares, exhibits and cuisine. Artisans, craftsmen, and merchants from around the world will descend on Downtown to display and share their culture. The open market is a supplemental event to the 2011 Kalachakra for World Peace Ceremony taking place at the Verizon Center (601 F Street), where the Dalai Lama is conferring the Kalachakra, a complex Buddhist ritual.
