The DowntownDC BID Welcomes Six New Members to the DowntownDC BID Board of Directors During the 2026 Annual Meeting
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the DowntownDC BID hosted its 2026 Annual Board of Directors and Membership Meeting at the organization’s headquarter.
Board of directors, stakeholders and members gathered to reflect on the past year, discuss priorities for the year ahead and vote on key decisions that will help shape the future of Downtown DC.
Following opening remarks from Board Chairman, Michael McCarthy, and a welcome from DowntownDC BID President & CEO, Gerren Price, attendees voted on the proposed FY 2027 budget, executive committee members, board member term renewals and the addition of new board members.
With unanimous approval, The DowntownDC BID is pleased to announce the appointment of six new members to its Board of Directors:
- Giacomo Barbieri | CEO, Gould Property
- George W. Cantrell III | President, Capitol Crossing Advisors
- Beryl Jolly | CEO, National Theatre
- Cordell Nelson | General Manager, Arlo Hotel Washington DC
- Kyle Schoppmann | President, CBRE
- Bereket Selassie | Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Rift Valley Capital






With valuable expertise and fresh perspectives, the new board members will help guide the organization’s work to strengthen Downtown DC as a vibrant destination for businesses, residents and visitors. The meeting also secured approval of the FY 2027 budget, which will be allocated to support the DowntownDC BID’s core services, as well as the approval of a dynamic slate of Executive Committee members for FY 2027 (October 1, 2026-September 30, 2027). Current board members who terms were renewed will serve a three year term through September 30, 2029.
During the second portion of the meeting, board members reflected on key accomplishments and milestones from FY 2026. From initiatives focused on maintaining a clean, safe and vibrant Downtown to celebrating the 21st anniversary of the DowntownDC Holiday Market and the notable success of Anthem Row, Downtown DC continues to evolve through the collaborative efforts of the board, stakeholders and members.
Looking ahead to FY 2027, the DowntownDC BID remains committed to advancing its vision and supporting initiatives that strengthen economic vitality, public spaces and community engagement throughout Downtown DC.
