Practice with the Pros

Looking for a summertime activity for the young ones? The Wizards Basketball Camps will present authentic NBA youth camps in the Washington metropolitan area this summer, including at the Verizon Center (601 F Street), where the fun—and hard work—will unfold from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30. Campers of all skill levels are urged to enroll and get their game on.

Children ages 8 to 17 will train with the pros and neighborhood coaches to learn basketball fundamentals, strategies and drills. Individual and team basketball skills will include offense, defense, shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding. Have a prodigy with front-office aspirations? Campers also will learn about basketball operations, coaching and broadcasting.

Each camper will receive lunch every day, one free ticket to a Wizards game during the 2010-2011 season, a reversible Wizards camp jersey, individual player evaluations, a Wizards camp certificate and a team photo. Super cool: NBA players and legends; G-Wiz, the fuzz ball mascot; and G-Man, the super dunker, will make appearances at the camps. Everyone should sleep well come nightfall, as the camp will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
