Interactive Exchange

Social media’s impact on modern day communications cannot be denied. It has sparked political uprisings on one hand and real-time dialog on the other. To prove this, the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue) opened a new, 2,500-square-foot HP New Media Gallery on April 27. Its first major gallery opening since 2008, the year of the museum’s grand opening, offers a new, interactive experience using the latest technology. Visitors get to step into a multidimensional social network, where they can build custom news pages, explore viral videos, post photos of themselves to screens in the gallery, and comment on the day’s events. The Hewlett-Packard Company provided major support for a gallery that features several futuristic technologies that create an immersive, high-touch experience for visitors, including HP Slate 500 tablet computers, HP VantagePoint touch walls and an HP Photon Engine solution.
