Galileo III (600 14th Street), which showcased celebrity chef Roberto Donna’s authentic Italian cuisine, has closed, citing economic woes and bad press. The much-anticipated restaurant opened in October 2010, replacing space once occupied by Butterfield 9. It had an intimate restaurant-within-a-restaurant similar to its namesake and seated 80 guests. Donna is a 1996 James Beard Award winning chef and restaurateur who owned eleven restaurants during the 1990s. No word yet on his next move.
