If you like the self-guided walking tours created by Cultural Tourism DC (1250 H Street), get ready for more. The Make No Little Plans: Federal Triangle Heritage Trail, coming this spring, will be the independent nonprofit coalition’s first Heritage Trail for the federal government, focusing on the architecture and history of a key Downtown neighborhood. But first, Cultural Tourism will roll out the Hub, Heart, Home: Greater H Street NE Heritage Trail in early spring near Union Station, a major transportation hub for Downtown. The organization is already expanding its Civil War to Civil Rights: Downtown Heritage Trail this year to include Judiciary Square and recently launched Lift Every Voice: Georgia Ave./Pleasant Plains Heritage Trail, a 19-sign trail running from the Shaw/Howard University Metro station up (and off) Georgia Avenue to the Petworth Metro station. The self-guided walking tours are all part of a citywide system which uses the distinctive DC Neighborhood Heritage Trails signage originally developed by Cultural Tourism and the DowntownDC BID for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT).
