COVID-19 Updates for the DowntownDC Community

Share

Like most organizations in the District of Columbia, the DowntownDC Business Improvement District is taking a series of precautionary actions to comply with the COVID-19 emergency declaration issued by Mayor Muriel Bowser and safeguard the health and wellbeing of staff, residents and visitors. The BID will continue to provide updates as they become available. Please check this page for up-to-date information.

Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance (SAM) ambassadors

At this time, SAM ambassadors will continue service as regularly scheduled, until further notice, but we have implemented policies and procedures to safeguard their health and safety as well as reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.

Downtown Day Services Center

The Downtown Day Services Center will close beginning Monday, March 16 through March 31, 2020 to mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  We are working with our Department of Human Services partners to develop and implement practices and procedures to minimize the risk of spread of COVID-19 when the center reopens.

DowntownDC Events

We will closely monitor news and communications from the District of Columbia government and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and keep you informed on the status of upcoming DowntownDC BID events. In the meantime, we have canceled DowntownDC Cherry Blossom Yoga & Sunset Celebration, scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at Freedom Plaza and all other DowntownDC events have been postponed.

Stay Informed

We encourage you to stay informed and act in accordance with information as it is released. Visit the District Government’s website, coronavirus.dc.gov, and the CDC website for the latest information surrounding COVID-19 along with preventive measure recommendations.
