They’re back! Ford’s Theatre’s (511 10th Street) popular History on Foot walking tours return on Wednesday, March 21, and run through Friday, August 31. What’s not to love about a little history-on-the-go?

The costumed actors who play historical figures from Civil War Washington are sure to delight, and inform. There’s “Investigation: Detective McDevitt,” a two-hour tour which revisits and reexamines the sites and clues surrounding President Lincoln’s death. It spans 1.4 miles, so wear your walking shoes!  There’s also “A Free Black Woman: Elizabeth Keckly,” focusing on a former slave, dressmaker and confidante of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. It lasts about 90 minutes, covers 1.5 miles and is available for private tours only.

Both tours will begin outside Ford’s Theatre. Tickets for the first are $15 for individuals and $12 for groups of 20 or more, excluding fees. Private tours cost $600 and cover up to 40 people. They are available by request and based on availability.
