Urban Living Rooms
About The Event
Celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with Urban Living Rooms, a site-specific installation and winner of the 250 Years of American Style competition by CityCenterDC. The work transforms Palmer Alley through a series of suspended living room environments.
Created by artist and architect Tung Nguyen, the installation explores the living room as a space that exists between private and public life—where people gather, host, connect, and express identity. Blending architecture, storytelling, and cultural memory, each suspended environment offers a distinct interpretation of community, turning familiar domestic spaces into an immersive public experience.
