Tour: Spotting Shapes and Looking for Lines for Young Learners
About The Event
Young learner tours, exclusively for children ages 3â6 and their guardians, are designed to get little bodies moving, minds thinking, hands making and mouths talking about works of art. Participants go on an adventure through the galleries and look closely at works in the collection. They learn about NMWA, practice museum manners and discover art concepts through developmentally appropriate discussions, a themed story and hands-on activities. During this line- and shape-focused tour, participants will:
- Discover and identify shapes and lines through close looking at two works of art;
- Use their eyes, bodies, and creativity to observe and express these basic elements of art;
- Learn the difference between two- and three-dimensional artworks and between geometric and organic forms; and
- Create three-dimensional multimedia artworks that reflect their understanding of shapes and lines.
Free. Reservations required by Thursday, June 14. Reserve online. Note: One adult chaperone per three young learners is required.
