About The Event

Join the Library of Congress for the 2026 National Book Festival, taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Saturday, August 22, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Festival goers can enjoy many of America’s most beloved writers in conversations, interactive programs, book signings and family-friendly activities for attendees of all ages, while exploring the Library’s collections, services and resources. Part of the Library’s celebration of America 250: It’s Your Story, this year’s festival is an invitation to further appreciate the country’s history.

Whether you’re discovering a new favorite author, hearing from acclaimed writers, or exploring the festival’s interactive exhibits, there’s something for every kind of reader.

  • Cost: FREE | The festival is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for festival entry.

  • Metro: Mt. Vernon Square 7th St-Convention Center Station (Green/Yellow Lines) via 7th St Convention Center Exit.
