Get out your walking shoes. Ford’s Theatre’s (511 10th Street) popular History on Foot walking tour leaps back into action March 24 through August 28.

Talk about colorful. Actors playing characters from Civil War Washington will guide you through Downtown on adventures that are bound to thrill diehard history buffs and novices alike.  The tours begin March 24 with the assassination conspiracy walking tour, “Investigation: Detective McDevitt.” Join Detective McDevitt for this two-hour, 1.4-mile tour as he revisits and reexamines the sites and clues from the investigation into the Lincoln Assassination Conspiracy.

A second tour, “A Free Black Woman: Elizabeth Keckly,” focuses on a free black woman and confidante of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, who will share delicious stories about her friendship with the Lincoln family and her efforts to help former slaves find their way in newly free DC. This tour runs 90-minutes and spans 1.5-miles.

Both tours will begin outside Ford’s Theatre and will be available in the mornings and afternoons on select days. History on Foot tickets are $12 for individuals; groups of 20 or more pay $10. For more information, visit www.fords.org.
