Congratulations to Linda Lee, the civic leader and former owner of Hunan Chinatown restaurant (624 H Street), which closed in the early 2000s. The Taiwan native is the recipient of the 2013 Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award, presented by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) to recognize a community member who has contributed to the success of the Washington area’s restaurant industry. Lee, a past RAMW chairperson, was commended for working as a tireless industry advocate for more than 50 years and supporting some of D.C.’s biggest projects, including the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) and the MCI Center, now the Verizon Center (601 F Street). Mayor Vincent C. Gray introduced her on Monday at the announcement reception held at Carnegie Library (801 K Street), where D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans (Ward 2) also saluted Lee. The Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award, named for legendary Washington restaurateur Duke Zeibert, will be presented by RAMW at the 31st Annual RAMMY Awards Gala on Sunday, June 23, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
