Occupying the south half of the Old Patent Office Building, entered from F Street, is the National Portrait Gallery. It traces the history of the United States through paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings and photographs of men and women who have made significant contributions to its development.  Admission: free - On-site Food Service - Gift Shop includes American biographies, exhibit catalogues, posters, and presidential portraits

The National Historic Landmark building that houses the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery is also home to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard, the Lunder Conservation Center, the Luce Foundation Center for American Art and the Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium.
