Have you seen the proposed color schemes yet for D.C.’s taxicab fleet? They were on display at the Verizon Center (601 F Street) through Monday, January 7. Now, the four-car vehicle exhibit will relocate to Union Station before landing at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) in time for the Washington Auto Show in February. You can provide feedback on the proposed color schemes online, where you also can view the vehicle colors now recommended for 6,500 D.C. cabs. Final recommendations are expected this spring. A uniform color scheme and identity for D.C. taxis fit with industry upgrades mandated by the Taxicab Service Improvement Amendment Act, which went into effect in October. Other improvements call for installing credit card readers and new dome lights atop all cabs, and offering driver training, new meters and GPS devices.
