The BID had another successful year! During fiscal year 2019 (FY19) DowntownDC generated a net fiscal impact of $802 million, an amount large enough to fund the DC Metropolitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services departments.

One of DowntownDC’s major focus in FY19  was addressing the needs of residents who need the most help. In February 2019, we launched the Downtown Day Services Center to provide services to people experiencing homelessness in DC. We also partnered with the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) to launch a workforce training program for returning citizens and others who are trying to re-enter the workforce.

Other highlights for FY19 include: launching the BID’s 501(c)(3), the DowntownDC Foundation; signing agreements for renovations and operations of Franklin Park; expanding the Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance ambassador team; receiving international recognition for the District of Fashion Spring/Summer runway show; enhancing public space areas in DowntownDC with a mural and art installations; and refocusing on sustainability.

The BID’s complete FY19 financial statements and FY20  budget allocation are included in the report.
