The markets, located in two prime Downtown locations, are open Thursday afternoons—from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Penn Quarter FRESHFarm Market and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the By the White House, FRESHFarm Market. Farmers and producers from West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia sell fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs, flowers, plants, breads, pastries and handmade soaps. A full schedule of Chefs at Market features seasonal cooking demonstrations and tastings late in the afternoon. In 2013, the Penn Quarter market, located on 8th Street between D and E streets, takes place from March 21 to December 19. The By the White House market, located on Vermont Avenue between H and I streets, will run from May 2 to October 31.
