Good news. Penn Camera (840 E Street) lives on. The neighborhood mainstay was officially turned over to Chicago-based Calumet Photo, a professional imaging products and supply company, yesterday. The store’s inventory is gradually being replaced following a liquidation sale that began in January. At that time, its former owner, Penn Camera Exchange, filed for bankruptcy and immediately closed five locations, leaving 840 E Street and two other locations open. Expect to see several new photography and camera promotions and offers soon. Penn Camera will retain its name.
