As Pride Month kicks off, the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community by highlighting pride events taking place throughout Downtown. With a rich tapestry of diversity, Downtown D.C. stands as a welcoming hub for all.

A highlight of this year’s festivities is the anticipated rerouting of the Capital Pride Parade, set to cascade through the BID down 14th Street to Freedom Plaza then turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday, June 8. This marks the first time the iconic parade will take this route, bringing the colorful celebration closer to the bustling streets of Downtown D.C.

Gerren Price, President and CEO of the DowntownDC BID, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Pride events, stating, “We are thrilled to embrace the spirit of Pride Month and to welcome the Capital Pride Parade to Pennsylvania Avenue for the first time. This historic moment not only celebrates the diversity of our community but also underscores our commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all.”

Local venues within the BID will also be hosting a variety of pride events, providing spaces for community members to come together, express themselves, and support one another. The BID invites residents and visitors alike to join in the festivities and celebrate the LGBTQ community in Downtown D.C. throughout the month of June.
