What’s cool, shiny, bright, smooth and revving up to take Downtown DC by storm? Cars! And plenty of them when the Washington Auto Show, DC’s largest public exhibition, rolls into the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Pl.) on Friday, January 27 and dazzles guests through Sunday, February 5.
Take a sneak peek at more than 700 new makes and models from more than 42 manufacturers. Browse the Advanced Technology SuperHighway pavilion, which will showcase developments in electric, hybrid, hydrogen, clean diesel, natural gas, ethanol, biofuel and advanced petroleum technologies—and the very latest thinking in auto safety.
Celebrities such as Brooks Laich and John Carlson of the Washington Capitals (401 9th Street); D’Angelo Hall of the Washington Redskins; and WWE superstar Randy Orton and legend Sgt. Slaughter are among those who will be present. Oh, there’s also the Playland Mascots and Rock-It the Robot for the kiddies.
This year’s show will honor U.S. troops in Iraq on Tuesday, January 31, and Green Car Journal will announce the 2012 Green Car Vision Awards winner on Thursday, January 26, during the Auto Show’s Public Policy Preview Day.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children age 6 to 12. Children 5 and under get in free of charge.
