Congratulations to the 2013 Helen Hayes Awards winners! Two DowntownDC BID area theatre companies—the WoollyMammoth Theatre Company (641 D Street) and Shakespeare Theatre Company (the Lansburgh Theatre, 450 7th Street, and Sidney Harman Hall, 610 F Street) walked away with six awards, nabbing three each.

- Outstanding Set Design, Resident Production: Misha Kachman, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity – Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company
- Outstanding Musical Direction, Resident Production: Jonathan Tuzman, Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play – Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company
- Outstanding Choreography, Resident Production: Joe Isenberg, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity – Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company
- The Robert Prosky Award for Outstanding Lead Actor, Resident Play: Steven Epp, The Servant of Two Masters – Shakespeare Theatre Company
- Outstanding Lead Actress, Resident Play: Francesca Faridany, Strange Interlude – Shakespeare Theatre Company
- Outstanding Non-Resident Production: Black Watch – Shakespeare Theatre Company
In January, the Shakespeare Theatre Company picked up 18 nominations, while the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company gathered 10. Ford’s Theatre(511 10th Street) also received three; and the National Theatre (1321 Pennsylvania Avenue) collected one.
