Several diverse tenants continue to occupy buildings owned by Douglas Development Corporation (702 H Street), a major Downtown property owner and one of the city’s most active private developers. In the fourth quarter of 2012, four companies—ranging from a news magazine to an online legal research service—signed leases to take up more than 16,000 square feet (SF) in different Downtown properties. The lessees are:

  • The New Republic (525 9th Street), a bi-weekly news magazine and website brand – 10,019 SF
  • Taylor Gourmet (624 E Street), the fast-growing Italian deli – 1,500 SF
  • FutureGen Capital (1424 K Street), specializing in capital and asset management through strategic investments – Undisclosed
  • Eastcase, Inc. (711 D Street), the online company – 4,517 SF

All but FutureGen Capital signed 10-year leases. The company, with offices on Connecticut Avenue, opted for a five-year lease. The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Fish & Richardson PC will be among its new neighbors at 1424 K Street.
