A new fashion standard was set in the District on Sept. 5 at the DowntownDC District of Fashion Runway Show, where nearly 1,000 attendees had the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the area’s hottest designers.
Guests to the Kogod Courtyard at the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) in DowntownDC, were treated to an evening of fashion glam featuring 14 designers and 11 Spring/Summer 2020 collections. The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) also issued its first District of Fashion Magazine at the event, which features many of the designers and models from the show in gorgeous editorial spreads taken in locations in DowntownDC.
Designers for the Sept. 5 show included Shari Henry, SincerelyKAJ, Andrew Nowell, Dur Doux, Mylk & Honey Clothier, TruFaceByGrace, Christopher Schafer Clothier, SJL Collection, Cheero Citizen, Grindstone Universal, DiDomenico, Abrams Wearable, BeMade and Insight Opticians.
The Sept. 5 event was the third iteration of the District of Fashion, which serves as a kickoff to New York Fashion Week. The event was in partnership with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Commission on Fashion Arts and Events (CFAE), 202Creates, the Office of Cable Television, Film and Entertainment (OCTFME), and the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and was hosted by celebrity TV personality and stylist Paul Wharton.
