Using the visual arts, performing arts, and new media, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery tells the history of America through individual poets, presidents, visionaries, villains, actors, and activists who have shaped its culture.

The National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum also include the light-filled Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard, a major gathering place in the nation’s capital with free WiFi.
