Learn MoreThe DowntownDC BID’s 15th Annual Downtown Holiday Market will officially kick off the holiday season with its grand opening this Friday, November 22, at 11:30am. Attendees will hear from speakers within the DowntownDC community like DC Council Member Kenyan McDuffie, Neil Albert (BID President & CEO) and Kristi Whitfield (Director, DSLBD). The market will operate daily through December 23 from 12pm to 8pm.
This year’s festive shopping “village” once again finds itself cozied in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery, on F Street between 7th and 9th Streets NW. Regardless of rain or snow, a rotation of artisans and small businesses will be on site showcasing unique handmade crafts, clothing, glasswork, jewelry, paintings, and so much more. Downtown Holiday Market Dollars (gift certificates) are also available for purchase.
New to this year’s market is The National Building Museum‘s popular gift shop! The “Made in DC” booth will also make a return, thanks to a partnership with the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD). You can find it at the corner of 8th and F Street NW.
Shoppers can enjoy tasty treats from DC favorites like Alexa’s Empanadas and The Taste of Germany along with live, daily performances from local talent like Afro Nuevo and Howard University’s jazz ensemble.
There will be a social media gift card giveaway for those in attendance on opening day, Friday, November 22. Two lucky winners will be awarded with special prizes! Participating, opening day attendees must take a festive photo with the Market’s decorative Nutcrackers and/or “JOY” statute, located in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
