On Sunday, August 10 from 4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., don’t miss Marquee, a world premiere commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery and choreographed by resident artist Diana Movius, peels back the glittering facade of stardom and reveals the sweat, retakes, and chaotic mischief behind every flawless finish.
Inspired by the Portrait Gallery’s exhibition Star Power: Photographs from Hollywood’s Golden Age by George Hurrell, this bold, contemporary ballet dives into the not-so-effortless art of looking effortless. With playful precision and a wink of vintage sparkle, Marquee fuses vintage allure with modern mischief—because even Hollywood legends need a retake or two.
